#39 – Matthew Good – Avalanche (2003)

So a new artist to me and the channel, Matthew Good from Canada. He’s very well known there but fairly obscure elsewhere. No matter, we tackle everything!

This sounds remarkably like a mash-up between REM, Live and Midnight Oil. I found the tracks a bit on the long side in places. They could have shaved minutes off some of these and still had the same impact.

There were some remarkably good moments here, and I applaud the artistic endeavour, but ultimately it’s a bit self indulgent, morose and just too long.
